Ok so matches, right? Handy little invention that sets things on fire on cue, wouldn't you agree?

So

WHY do some people feel the need to put the burnt maTches BACK in the box?

Well? Why?

I mean, what's the point? What are you saving them for? an emergency? there are, of course, emergencies that WOULD have you reaching for a box of matches, (ie freezing to death/lost in a damp dark tunnel/jane middlemiss, michael howard and craig from big brother are all in the same petrol station at the same time), but all of the scenarios i can imagine rely on there being an easily obtainable selection of unspent matches in the box.

NOT A BUNCH OF UTTERLY USELESS AND SLIGHTLY CHARRED KINDLING!!!

Don't you get it? Why do you keep doing it?

You can't build a longboat with them Lavikinga!

What are you people thinking you're going to use them for?

maybe, just MAYBE i'll concede that they make good toothpicks. but really, every time you open the box and put that still smoking pointless bit of wood back in ("but it's the other way around!") are you REALLY thinking "fantastic! my toothpick supplies are FAR from dwindling what with all this easily available matchwood".

No. You're not thinking that.

So why?
