So Alejandro came, he saw, and he recorded...
Allt he tracks are recorded and Alejandro has taken them all off to mix them ready for mastering.
And I have to say, we're very excited about how it sounds!

Alejandro and the girls are coming up in a couple of hours to get stuck into the last final day of recording the new songs. we've got from 3pm til the meeedle of the night to get it done and then the new cd/downloads will be almost there. Just the mixing and the wrapping to do and it'll be ready to make your ears bleed, your heart warm, and your legs jiggle and dance.

this is one of my replies in a songwriting thread on our forum. if it interests you come and join in.
"First of all Will the fragments of song stuck together thing is something I can really relate to. I do that a lot. Except I'm not organised enough to have just ONE book, OH no! I have about 6, all with the first 20 pages filled and then random other pages scribbled on and then hundreds of reciepts/fag packets covered in scrawl falling out from between the pages. And I've GOT to get me a dictaphone! I used to use my phone but I kept breaking the too big screens by sitting on them so now I just use a good old fashioned Nokia 3310. Yes it's a bit of a brick but it STILL works and you can hit a nazi square between the eyes at 100 paces with it....
Yeah the vocal thing is a little bit of a mystery to me and so therefore very exciting that I've finally got a lust to get stuck in. I've done bits and bobs of the backing stuff for the band but never really created a soundscape with them, just moods.
Thanks for your advice on avoiding 'dry spells' but I think I might not have made myself clear. I wasn't really suffering a drought, I've just been in my contemplative/humming mode! I see it as a really important part of it. I think a lot about the lyrics I want and the message contained within, sing grooves to myself as i walk and hum or whistle a lot of dodgy tunes! (Whistling is great by the way. Picked up the habit at a horrible job in a caravan factory. I love it. Make like a dwarf...) It's kind of like my own little melting pot and out of it appear what I presume to be the strongest ideas. Occaisionally something new and fresh that doesn't really relate to my the current thought processes will just appear out of nowhere in these periods but I can't really justify seperating that from those processes. I don't think the flashes would come if the engine wasn't running.
Have to say that's cool as FUCK about the girl in Australia, that would make me proud too! I get a similar although nowhere near as groovy feeling when we sell odd cds over the net to people in Sweden or America or something. Usually our sales occur in the UK (obviously) so when you get a random sale it's cool because someone has obviously just happened across the band and liked it enough to spend their money.
As for my favourites:
The answer to both questions is I'm Fine. We've just recorded the instruments for it ready to put the vocals on and I'm so excited by it. I can't help hearing it as a listener because I love it so much. It's this decades peace song. Gem has blown me away with it. I want to be jealous that I didn't write the lyrics but I can't because they're just SO good! Although I wrote a riff and a couple of basslines for it I just feel privileged to have been allowed to do so. It's made Gem into one of my musical idols! It sits above Negative Creep but below Whole Lotta Love in my all time favourites!
If you're asking what song of mine is my favourite then probably Cheapass. I like the riff, it gets across politically want I wanted to and then there's space for the drums to flip out at the end! (THat's me drumming on the recording by the way, and I'm arrogantly proud!). The vocals that Gem wrote are fucking killer too!
Anyway enough self appreciation! I got to go to work!
Gem I'll reply to yours later!
